Press conferences of the Statistical Office in Lublin Lublin Centre for Regional Surveys prepares monthly press conferences presenting the current socio-economic situation of the voivodship and results of the newest analyses and regional surveys. |
On 22 May 2019, the employees of the Statistical Office in Lublin including Sławomir Dziaduch (the manager of the Lublin Centre for Regional Surveys), Anastasiya Hrytsuk (senior statistician) and Łukasz Poszepczyński (specialist) represented the Office during the proceedings of the Day of the Sociologist, which took place at the Faculty of Philosophy and Sociology at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. There were many guests invited to this ceremony, such as the Rector of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University – Stanisław Michałowski, professor, PhD – and the director of the statistical Office in Lublin - Krzysztof Markowski, PhD.
The event was accompanied by the poster session prepared by the research and didactic employees.
The most important point was the scientific conference entitled “Society – real or virtual?”. Its main objective was to attempt answering the questions connected with complex social changes stimulated by multidimensional technological development. The participants discussed about the role of the Internet in the political and economic life as well as in making history and creating cultural contexts.
On 21 May 2019, an employee of the Lublin Centre for Regional Surveys in the Statistical Office in Lublin – Łukasz Poszepczyński, a specialist – conducted two trainings entitled “Informative Resources of the Local Data Bank, Its Functionality and Possibilities of Usage”. Students of Tourism and Recreation and Agri-business at University of Life Sciences in Lublin participated in the trainings. The main aim of the training was to familiarize the participants with informative resources of the Local Data Bank. The scope of information included in the database was presented. What is more, the participants developed practical skills connected with using the resources of public statistics efficiently and independently in terms of searching for and processing statistical data available in the electronic form.

On 19 December 2018, on the premises of the Statistical Office in Warsaw there was a scientific seminar entitled “Development Challenges of Cross-border Towns and Cities” with the author, PhD Andrzej Jakubowski from the Lublin Centre for Regional Surveys. Introduction to the seminar was performed by PhD Krzysztof Markowski, the Director of the Statistical Office in Lublin. The seminar was organised for members of the Warsaw Division of the Polish Statistical Association (PTS), supporters of PTS, employees of the statistics departments from the whole country and those people and institutions that were interested. The seminar was devoted to celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Statistics Poland. The basic subjects presented during the seminar included:
- Characteristics of cross-border towns and cities,
- Influence of the national border on the socio-economic situation of towns and cities,
- A role of towns and cities in development of cross-border areas,
- Functional cross-border areas,
- Barriers for cross-border functional integration of cross-border towns and cities in Poland.

Students of Finances and Accounting at the Faculty of Economics at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University took part in the training. On 7 December 2018, PhD Sławomir Dziaduch – the manager of the Lublin Centre for Regional Surveys – participated in the proceedings of the 18th Łuków Economic Forum. The subject of this year’s meeting was “Challenges at the Current Labour Market”. PhD Sławomir Dziaduch participated in the discussion panel called “Labour Market – the Employer Market or Employee Market?” and gave a presentation entitled “Structure and Dynamics of Salaries and Wages in Poland”. The Lubelski Vice Voivod – Robert Gmitruczuk, Vice Marshal of lubelskie voivodship – Dariusz Stefaniuk and representatives of local governments, associations of entrepreneurs and institutions connected with local development, among other people, participated in the conference.
On 22 November 20018, there was a seminar in the Hieronim Łopaciński Voivodship Public Library, located at ul. Prezydenta Gabriela Narutowicza 4, entitled “Economic Horizons of Freedom”, which was co-organised by the Statistical Office in Lublin. Lectures were given by PhD Ilona Skibińska-Fabrowska, the director of the National Bank of Poland Lublin Branch – “Polish Economic Successes 1918-1939”, and Anna Brzyska, the chief specialist, NBP Centre of Money, Education and Publishing Department, National Bank of Poland – “Rebirth of Polish Zloty in Independent Republic of Poland”. Students of Lublin secondary schools, who participated in the seminar, took part in the smartphone competition “From the History of Regaining Independence by Poland”.
On 11 September 2018, in the office of the National Bank of Poland Lublin Branch, there was a meeting devoted to surveys of the labour market carried out by NBP. The aim of the meeting was a presentation of issues connected with the labour market in terms of the country and region and presentation of results of the research done by public statistics and NBP, such as a report on the research regarding citizens of Ukraine who work in Poland.
The following representatives of the Statistical Office in Lublin participated in the meeting and discussion: the Director – PhD Krzysztof Markowski, the Manager of the Lublin Centre for Regional Surveys – PhD Sławomir Dziaduch, the Chief Specialist – Elżbieta Łoś, the representatives of NBP, powiat labour offices from the area of lubelskie voivodship and Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. During the meeting, Elżbieta Łoś gave a lecture entitled “Labour Market in Lubelskie Voivodship. Results of the Statics Poland Surveys”.
On 18 June 2018, there was a seminar in the Crown Tribunal in Lublin entitled “Economic Horizons of Freedom”, which was co-organised by the Statistical Office in Lublin. Lectures were given by PhD Ilona Skibińska-Fabrowska, the director of the National Bank of Poland Lublin Branch – “On the Threshold of Independence – a Turbulent Story of Polish Money”, and Władysław Wiesław Łagodziński, the Vice President of General Council in the Polish Statistical Association, the Council President in the Polish Statistical Association Warsaw Division – “National Accounts – What Are They, How to Calculate Them and Why?”. Students of Lublin secondary schools, who participated in the seminar, took part in the smartphone competition “People, Constructs, Traces – from the History of Regaining Independence by Poland”. The competition winners got prizes such as publications released by the Statistical Office in Lublin.
On 29 May 2018, there was a meeting with students of tourism and recreation at University of Life Sciences in Lublin. An employee of the Lublin Centre for Regional Surveys – Łukasz Poszepczyński, a specialist – gave a presentation entitled “Public Statistics System in the Outline” and he familiarized guests with the specifics of work and functioning of the Office as well as talked about informative resources of public statistics, whereas PhD Andrzej Jakubowski, a senior specialist, discussed the topic of “Touristic Potential of Lubelskie Voivodship”.
On 29 May 2018, students of the Secondary School Complex in Żółkiewka visited the Statistical Office in Lublin. An employee of the Lublin Centre for Regional Surveys – Łukasz Poszepczyński, a specialist – gave a presentation entitled “Public Statistics System in the Outline” and he familiarized guests with the specifics of work and functioning of the Office as well as talked about informative resources of public statistics.

On 10 May 2018, an employee of the Lublin Centre for Regional Surveys in the Statistical Office in Lublin – Łukasz Poszepczyński, a specialist – took part in the proceedings of the Commission of the Promotion of Gminas and Powiats Programme, “Business Excellence”, the 7th edition of which the Director of the Office, PhD Krzysztof Markowski, provided with the honourable patronage. The Programme administrator is Lublin Business Club Association. Currently, it is the biggest non-profit business organisation in the region which has already been operating for 18 years and consociates over 300 entrepreneurs from lubelskie voivodship. The aim of the programme is to distinguish the local governments which have a significant impact on development of lubelski region, to promote enterprise among local governments, to create conditions favourable for business as well as to identify innovative gminas and powiats standing out due to the highest quality and reliability.

From 9 April this year until the end of April 2018, there is an exhibition available at the Faculty of Economics at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University on the occasion of the Statistics Poland 100th anniversary. Information connected with the history of Statistics Poland was presented on the exhibition as well as the story of general censuses and statistics in stamp collecting and also activity of the Statistical Office in Lublin, e.g. publishing, information, educational and international activity.

On 9 January 2018, a regional contest – Statistical Competition – took place at the Faculty of Economics at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. 35 students of 14 secondary schools from lubelskie voivodship participated in the competition. The winner of the regional contest in Lublin was a student of the 2nd grade at Jan Paderewski Private Secondary School in Lublin. The runner-up was a student of the 3rd grade at Unia Lubelska Secondary School in Lublin and a student of the 3rd grade at Jan Zamoyski Secondary School in Lublin got the third place.
